This policy explains how Mashup handles personal information in its app and on this website. Mashup is currently preparing for launch. Contact us with privacy questions using the details below.

Information you provide

  • Account information: your email address, authentication information, and account identifier. If you use Google sign-in when available, we receive information needed to authenticate you, such as your Google account identifier and email address.
  • Profile information: your display name, birthday, gender, photos, bio, topics you know or want to learn, and discovery preferences. Your exact birthday is private; other users may see your age.
  • Activity: friendship requests, friendships, meetup invitations, topic roles, times, places, responses, completion status, messages to friends, and blocks.
  • Support: information you choose to send when contacting us.

Location and device permissions

With your permission, Mashup uses device location to find people nearby. Discovery coordinates are rounded to two decimal places before being saved. This reduces precision but can still indicate your approximate area. The current app requests location while you use it, rather than continuous background tracking.

You can manage location, photo, and notification permissions in your device settings. Nearby discovery requires location access. Photos you choose are uploaded to your profile. If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token, installation identifier, platform, and app and operating-system versions to deliver and manage notifications.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, display profiles, suggest people based on topics and discovery preferences, manage friendships and meetups, deliver messages and notifications, respond to support requests, and investigate misuse or technical problems.

What other people can see

Other signed-in users may see your profile, photos, topics, age, and approximate distance, subject to discovery and blocking rules. Meetup details are shared with the relevant participants. Friend chat is available to the people in that friendship.

Profile photo files are served through public URLs. Someone with a photo’s URL may be able to access it outside the app; blocking does not make a previously shared photo URL private. Avoid including sensitive information in photos, profile text, messages, or meetup places.

Service providers and disclosures

Mashup uses Supabase for authentication, database services, and photo storage. Expo and the device platform’s push services process notification tokens and delivery information. Google processes sign-in when you choose it. This website is prepared for hosting on Vercel, which may process request information such as IP addresses, browser details, and access logs to operate and protect the site.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable privacy obligations. The current app and website do not include advertising or a data-selling integration.

Website cookies and storage

This website does not add advertising cookies, analytics trackers, signup forms, or embedded third-party marketing content. Hosting providers may process technical request information. The app stores authentication sessions and preferences on your device so you can stay signed in and keep your settings.

Retention, security, and your choices

We retain information while needed to provide the service, resolve support or safety matters, and meet applicable obligations. Retention can vary by record type, and backups or security records may remain after information is removed from active systems. We use access controls and other safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

You can edit supported profile information in the app and change permissions in device settings. For access, correction, or deletion requests—including account deletion—contact us below. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you before acting. Rights and available exceptions depend on where you live. The app’s account deletion flow will be reviewed before public launch.

Adults only

Mashup is intended for people aged 18 and older. If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information, please contact us.

Updates and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated as appropriate.
